We are looking for an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to help design, build and maintain the software that powers our website. This position will be part of our core development team whose delivery of key functionality enables our success thru close teamwork, iterative development and innovation. You must enjoy working on the leading edge of technology and be able to bring your experiences to bear to help us successfully create new products in a fast-paced environment. We are a java-based, open source software shop – our cornerstone technologies are java, hibernate, spring, apache, resin, tomcat, lucene, velocity, struts, tiles and postgres.

The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of Java-based software development experience building enterprise scale applications, preferably high volume consumer retail websites. The candidate must be capable of solving complex business problems with limited information and challenging timelines.




Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement scalable, high performance, and high quality enterprise level application in SaaS environment.
• Work with platform teams and other application teams closely on object, application and UI designs.
• Prepare and review design and test plan documents.
• Work with cross functional teams in agile environment.
• Provide mentorship to other engineers in the team.




Qualifications:

• 10+ years of software development experience with minimum 5+ years in enterprise application with emphasis in application and UI development.
• Excellent Java skills with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with Hibernate and Flex.
• Familiarity with Apache, Tomcat, and Resin, Spring, Struts, Lucene.
• Experience dealing with HTTP, web frameworks and web containers.
• Highly skilled with a contemporary IDE (Eclipse, etc.)
• Proficient in UNIX/Linux.
• Familiarity with CVS or SVN.
• An understanding of collaborative development, design patterns, O/R mapping technologies, and relational DB technology.
• Have played in leadership role in product development and delivery.
• Experience working in a collaborative, iterative development environment.
• Experience building and maintaining high volume, complex applications.
• Experience working with offshore development resources.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good communicator, team player and committed individual contributor.
• Detail oriented and focused with a strong work ethic.
• Education required: Four-year college degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar. Consideration may be given to exceptional individuals possessing alternate training and/or a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
