The Data Warehouse Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting and supporting high-performance, end-to-end data integration and processing systems. This position will collaborate and work across different teams to implement and support business intelligence solutions to satisfy information requirements for planning and decision making, using data from core transactional and administrative systems. The successful candidate is expected to be a self-starter, inventive, well organized, constantly seeking opportunities for improvement and an exceptional team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple priorities, following a project plan and meeting project delivery dates. Includes estimating efforts, planning implementations and deployments as a input to the overall DW development/deployment schedule.
  • Design and develop new features in the Data warehouse (Relational and OLAP).
  • Develop and maintain Data Warehouse metadata.
  • Translate complex operational data into valuable analytical information.
  • Translate source mapping documents and report requirements into Dimensional Data Models.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, maintain and document ETL processes and reports for enterprise-wide data warehouse implementations data transformation/migration.
  • Provide data stewardship by constantly ensuring quality of data.
  • Create processes to ensure data quality and integrity by identifying and accounting for potential data errors.
  • Prepare and execute unit, quality assurance and integration test plans.
  • Identify opportunities for process and infrastructure improvements and drive them to completion.
  • Ensure optimal processing and reporting performance.
  • Proactively tune applications to minimize execution times and improve user experience.
  • Work with transactional DBA to ensure data availability, transformation continuity and eliminate errors.
  • Adapt ETLs to changes in data capture, format, frequency, etc. driven from application changes.
  • As DW DBA: Maintain Production & QA environments, Back ups, Disaster recovery, Indexing, Partitioning, Accessibility, Security, etc.
  • As Analysis Services Administrator: manage Aggregations and Partitions, users, profiles, security, and access.

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in administering a Data warehouse: Monitoring, Recovery plans, Performance monitoring & improvements.
  • 5 years experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, and data mining.
  • 3 years experience in designing, implementing and maintaining high performance, high availability (24x7), large-scale data warehouse systems.
  • Expert in t-SQL programming in SQL Server 2005 or higher.
  • Expert in SQL Server 2005/2008 Data warehouse development and Dimensional modeling (Star schema).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Integration services & Reporting Services.
  • Analysis services/MDX development experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Postgres Database technology is a plus.
  • Direct Marketing Industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Highly organized individual with excellent decision making, analytical, problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Experience working as an implementation team member with critical individual contributor responsibilities.
  • Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus and excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent command of software development life cycle activities including analysis, design, development, unit and system testing, production deployment and post-production support.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to translate complex operational data into valuable analytical information.
  • Strong experience in data warehouse QA/Testing.
  • Experience building data harvesting routines using SSIS or similar methods.
